Imbibe 75 Place to Watch: JoJo’s Beloved
Remember fun? Good friends, good drinks, good music? Atlanta Cocktail Lounge Jojo’s Beloved opened last summer inside the Politan Row food hall, aims for just such a vibe with their disco-tinged, neo-futuristic take on a speakeasy.
The drink menu, by JoJo’s Beloved opening beverage director Sophie Burton and bartender Benton Bourgeois, gets playful with offerings. Its Private Life Drama features a blend of rum, hibiscus grenadine, orange bitters, and topped with Pink Squirrel foam. “The list came from quite a bit of research into the so-called ‘dark times’ of the cocktail world,” says Burton.
“The jump-off cocktails were the Midori Sour and the Fuzzy Navel. And we spent a significant amount of time dissecting what these cocktails really communicated flavor- and texture-wise, and how they could be refined using the modern cocktail palate and spirit list. … We wanted drinks that were visually appealing, unusual for a modern cocktail menu, and flat-out fun.”
